Together with the Latin American Association of Development Finance Institutions (ALIDE), ImplementaSur co-designed and will teach the course “ESG and Sustainable Finance: Integration, Strategy, and Decision-Making,” aimed at teams from development banks and other financial institutions across the region.

Development banks in Latin America and across the globe are operating in a fast-changing environment with growing pressures. Regulatory frameworks are shifting; national taxonomies have been introduced; countries have renewed their commitments to the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement; and financial materiality is increasingly sensitive to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks.
All of these shifts have a direct impact on the strategic and operational role of development banks. These institutions have a particular position within the financial system: they serve segments and projects that face greater barriers to commercial financing, and they sustain investment when private capital pulls back. Their place at the center of the sustainability conversation is, in that sense, a natural one — even as they face the challenge of translating ESG criteria into concrete credit, risk, and product decisions.
Against this backdrop, ALIDE is hosting the online course “ESG and Sustainable Finance: Integration, Strategy, and Decision-Making,” co-designed and taught by ImplementaSur. The course is aimed at development bank and financial institution staff — including commercial banks, microfinance institutions, insurers, and pension funds — as well as regulators and supervisors working primarily in sustainable finance, risk, and credit, and analysts and consultants with an interest in corporate sustainability.
The course runs from September 8 to October 6, 2026, through ALIDE’s Virtual Campus. The program covers the following topics, among others:
Over five weeks, participants will work through a case study built around a fictional but realistic institution, allowing them to develop their own integrated sustainability plan session by session.
Capacity building is a core part of how we work with development institutions. This partnership with ALIDE — an association that brings together more than 80 development banks and financial institutions from Latin America, the Caribbean, and beyond — speaks directly to that goal: giving decision-makers in the region the technical tools and autonomy to drive sustainable finance from within.
The course will be taught by a team of three ImplementaSur professionals with broad experience advising Latin America’s financial sector:

Director

Consulting Manager

Project Manager
Registration is open on ALIDE’s e-learning platform and closes on September 1, 2026. Interested participants can sign up at alidevirtual.org.
