Acción Empresas launched the Nature and Biodiversity Compass in August, a program that builds on the work carried out this year through the first Biodiversity and Nature Accelerator in Latin America, under the Business Biodiversity Action Plan. ImplementaSur is participating as technical co-executor of this new phase, which has the technical and financial support of Business for Nature.

The Compass aims to pilot a set of nature and biodiversity metrics so that participating companies can carry out real measurements using actual data, helping them manage their nature-related dependencies and impacts while aligning with the global targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the National Biodiversity Strategy.

It is designed for companies at different levels of maturity and data availability that have the capacity and interest in piloting biodiversity metrics in their operations.

Throughout the program, each participating company will develop knowledge and a set of prioritized management metrics aligned with international frameworks. To support this, the Compass incorporates the Nature and Biodiversity Metrics Visualizer, a pioneering tool in Chile developed under the plan’s Metrics and Information Management Subcommittee, with the support of KPMG.

The initiative also deepens ImplementaSur’s ongoing work with Acción Empresas on integrating nature and biodiversity into private sector strategic management, building on the work carried out throughout 2026 under the Nature and Biodiversity Accelerator.

“During the Accelerator, we worked with 22 companies on how to understand their relationship with nature as a foundation for developing a nature and biodiversity strategy — and today, several of them are already making progress on that front,” said Ignacio Rebolledo, CEO of ImplementaSur. “That work shows that more and more companies, across very different sectors, are bringing these concepts into how they think about their business and making them part of their everyday vocabulary. The Compass is an opportunity for more organizations to take that step, with tools and metrics that make that integration actionable. We encourage interested companies to join the process.”

The program launched on Wednesday, August 19. It will include five virtual working sessions and two in-person workshops, running through November, and is open to productive companies — both members and non-members of Acción Empresas.
